Fountain Hills is a quick trip from Scottsdale and is about a 30 mile commute from Tempe. Nestled in the McDowell Mountain foothills, this area has an almost other-wordly beauty and features many homes with views.
Honestly, it seems this town should be called “Mountain Hills” because its hilly terrain and canyons are truly awe-inspiring and memorable. In the center of town, flanked by restaurants and surrounded by park property is its actual namesake… a 560-foot high fountain that turns on once an hour for all to see. Fountain Hills park also has a wonderful playground for children–including a water spray park for those hot summer months–and also hosts various celebrations throughout the year.
This town is a great choice if you love hiking, biking, and horseback riding. Nearby you can find McDowell Mountain Regional Park which connects Fountain Hills to a large area surrounding Phoenix through an intricate trail system where you can enjoy all three of these outdoor activities. There are several golf courses in town including Desert Canyon Golf Club, Eagle Mountain Golf Club, and Sunridge Canyon Golf Club.
